This Power Point presentation was sent to me and prepared for the Missouri Smallmouth Alliance by Dan Kreher. He summarizes:
"It basically contains a summary of stream SMB regs currently in place across most of the US (native range generally) and 3 SMB provinces in Canada. The research behind the presentation was fairly time consuming and, I believe, reasonably complete for an unpaid volunteer. The regs survey info was presented to members of the Missouri Smallmouth Alliance at its February meeting last week in St. Louis. The presentation not only summarizes stream smallie regs, but it also compares them to the current regs in Missouri and its surrounding states (IL, IA, AR, OK, KS, TN, KY). The report also includes a history of SMB regs in Missouri and summarizes the current regs in Arkansas and Illinois and what/who influenced the recent stream SMB regs changes that we've fortunately seen in these two states. ISA, of course, played a big role in bringing about the new regs on smallies in the Land of Lincoln as ISA members are well aware. We in Missouri have certainly contributed to the overall direction and scope of Missouri's SMB management program over the past 15 years, but, in my opinion, our chapter could do much more to accelerate changes here. The presentation concludes with basically a call to action for our membership and lists various questions, management proposals that we should consider discussing with the Missouri Department of Conservation in the near future."
